德国作曲家，他的作品产生于后巴洛克和古典时期之间。出生于普鲁士（今德国境内）玛格地堡(Magdeburg)。　　1701-1705年在利斯格(Leipzig)，并就读于利斯格大学，自学多种乐器。25－28岁在沙劳(Sorau)。在这两个地方任职于多个教堂和私人乐团。1704年任莱比锡新教堂管风琴师，1708－1712年任爱森纳赫（Eisenach)乐长。1712－1721年移居法兰克福。40岁那年也就是1721年定居汉堡，任约翰教堂合唱团领唱与音乐指导，直至去世。　　后人评介及音乐贡献：泰勒曼是历史上最有贡献的音乐家之一。他沟通了以J.S.巴赫为代表的后巴洛克时期音乐和以海顿，莫扎特为代表的早期古典主义音乐。　　他以纯熟的作曲技巧把巴洛克传统对位法、意大利的歌剧色彩和优雅的法国管弦乐组合起来。　　代表作：他的作品包括40首歌剧、44首受难曲、12套礼拜音乐、数不清的清唱剧、歌曲和乐器作品。
