Koes Plus

Formerly known as Koes Bersaudara (Koes Brothers), Koes Plus is a musical group with an Indonesian origin that gained huge stardom during the 1960s and 1970s. Initially its band members consisted of all five Koeswoyo brothers that is John Koeswoyo, Yok Koeswoyo, Yon Koeswoyo, Nomo Koeswoyo and Tonny Koeswoyo. In 1965, brothers were arrested for performing covers of Beatles songs as sub cultures were banned by then president, and were soon released on 29 September. This experience led to the recording of their song "Di Dalam Bui". Koes Plus is popular for creating songs and albums with a major focus on Indonesia's classic musical acts. This is one of the oldest bands of the times when there were no private televisions and songs were listened only through then-only TV station, TVRI. Then too, Koes Plus managed to gain a huge audience who loved their genre of music and enjoyed Koes Plus songs & albums. In 2007, Rolling Stone Indonesia magazine ranked 6 of Koes Plus band's studio albums in their 150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time list that included Those are Dheg Dheg Plas at 4, To The So Called The Guilties at 6, Koes Bersaudara at 14, Koes Plus Volume 2 at 21, Koes Plus Volume 4 at 30 and Koes Plus Volume 5 at 38.
